Really, Zuleikha?
It is a story as old as the Bible. Funny, I’ve never noticed. Until today as I was reading more about [click here] Julian Assange (WikiLeaks) and my thoughts were drawn to the subject of the possibility that the ladies may be making false claims.
Now, false claims is nothing new. Joseph had his fair share with Potifar’s wife [click here] and if you care to read more about it the numbers suggest that as much as 50% of all reported cases are blatantly false.
And the scary thing is: The woman’s name is not even published, she gets away scot-free and undamaged, while the guy has to spend thousands of dollars, spend time in jail, and carry the stigma for the rest of his life. And he is an innocent victim in at least 50% of all cases.
Scary.
Why? Because “the truth is women lie. A lot. About very serious matters like rape. They will continue to do so as long as the consequences to them are so non-existant” (sic, quoted from SlashDot)
For all crimes, for both men and women, if you knowingly lie and knowingly make a false criminal accusation against someone, you should face whatever penalty that person would have faced if convicted.
Except, sadly, in South Africa, where rich women with deep pockets to retain even richer legal defence, are allowed to make false accusations of domestic violence or child abuse as a tactical weapon to gain advantage.
Do you realise that a Domestic Violence order, in South Africa, is the only law where you are assumed and found guilty and can be arrested without any evidence whatsoever being presented?
Talk to me, I’d like to hear your opinion.
P.S. Potifar’s wife name was also not published in the Bible, although other material suggest she might have been called Zuleikha.
